December 21, 2023: 2023 witnessed several successful ransomware attacks across many industries, including health, defense, gaming, government, and manufacturing. Many of the firms targeted by the notorious hacker outfit BlackCat included Boeing, MGM Grand, U.S Marshall Services, City of Dallas, Texas, and Western Digital, just to name a few.
Along with BlackCat, the Rhysida ransomware gang also played a significant role in the ransomware attacks in 2023. In several cases, the identification of the ransomware hacker gang was never discovered. Many of the victims chose to pay the ransom. Dish Network reported paying a ransom to regain access to their data containing information about 290,000 employees.
